Hi friends, and welcome to Moments of Devotion — a weekly pause for encouragement and prayer. I’m so glad you’re here, taking a few minutes to breathe, reflect, and rest in God’s Word as we head into the weekend.

This whole idea came to me in the middle of my usual Friday chaos. I was sitting at my desk, staring at my list — okay, lists — feeling completely overwhelmed. You know that point in the day where your brain is juggling what’s left at work and already planning your weekend chores? Yep, that was me.

Somewhere between my to-do list and my grocery list, it hit me: I need to pause. I need to stop spinning long enough to let God’s Word settle my heart before I stumble into another weekend already exhausted.

That’s really where this idea for Moments of Devotion began — not from a grand plan, but from one of those small, honest realizations that I was running on empty and needed Jesus to fill my cup again.

📖 Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

These are some of the most comforting words Jesus ever spoke — and maybe some of the ones we need to hear most on a Friday afternoon.

He doesn’t say, “Come to me once you’ve finished everything.” He says, “Come to me, all who are weary.” And I don’t know about you, but by the end of the week, that’s me in a nutshell. We carry the weight of our responsibilities, the endless schedules, the unexpected worries — and somewhere along the way, our souls start to feel just as tired as our bodies.

But Jesus doesn’t just offer us a quick break from life; He offers something deeper — rest in Him. A peace that isn’t about having an empty calendar, but about walking beside Him, letting Him set the pace.

He doesn’t remove the yoke — He exchanges it. “Take my yoke upon you,” He says. That means we don’t walk alone. It means we let Him guide us, steady us, and remind us that our worth isn’t measured by how much we finish, but by His love for us.

So as you step into your weekend — maybe finishing errands, or trying to squeeze in rest between commitments — remember this: you are not defined by your productivity. You are defined by the One who calls you His own.

Take a deep breath. Let go of the weight you’ve carried this week. And allow God to meet you in this moment with His gentleness and grace.

🙏 Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for inviting us to come to You when we’re weary. You see our full schedules, our tired hearts, and every burden we’ve carried this week.

Help us slow down long enough to remember Your goodness. Teach us to rest in Your presence — not just with our bodies, but with our souls.

As we head into the weekend, help us trust that You are enough. Refresh our hearts, bring peace into our homes, and remind us that true rest is found only in You.

In Your precious name we pray — Amen.

Thank you for taking time to read Moments of Devotion. I pray this reminder encourages you to find your rest in God’s presence this weekend.

If this spoke to your heart, share it with someone who might need a little peace today.

And join me again next Friday for another Moment of Devotion — another chance to pause, breathe, and draw near to the One who gives us rest. 💛
