This week has gone by in a blur.

We are preparing to leave for vacation on Saturday — heading to California to visit my oldest son and his family — and it feels like everything is happening all at once. I’ve been wrapping things up at work so nothing is left hanging, working ahead in my classes so I don’t fall behind next week, and trying to get everything packed and organized at home.

It feels like a constant rush… just so we can “relax.”

And if I’m being honest, I already know how this trip will go. We will still be busy. We’ll be trying to fit everything in. There will be plans, schedules, and a lot of moving from one thing to the next.

But there will also be hugs.

So many hugs.

There will be laughter, time together, and moments with my youngest granddaughter — the ones we don’t get nearly often enough. Living far away from family is hard. No matter how strong you are, distance is still distance.

And yet, I am so incredibly thankful for technology.

Because even when we are miles apart, we are still able to connect. A quick FaceTime call, a message, a picture — and suddenly, we’re part of each other’s lives again. It may not be the same as being together in person, but it is a gift that keeps us close.

And as I was thinking about that this week, it hit me…

God is like that, too.

We don’t have to wait.
We don’t have to schedule time.
We don’t have to be in a certain place.

We can reach Him anytime.

While we’re driving.
While we’re working.
While we’re cooking dinner.
While we’re sitting quietly… or even in the middle of chaos.

We can get on the “prayer line” with Him at any moment.

And the best part?

He is always there.

Always listening.
Always present.
Always ready.

There is no distance from God. No missed calls. No waiting for a response.

And I truly believe… He loves hearing from us.

As I head into this busy weekend and into a week that is supposed to be “restful,” I’m reminding myself of something simple:

Even when life feels rushed, God is never out of reach.

📖 Scripture for This Week

Psalm 145:18 (NIV)
“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.”

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for always being near. Thank You that no matter where we are or how busy life becomes, we can come to You at any moment. Help us to remember to pause, to reach out, and to include You in our everyday lives — not just in the quiet moments, but in the busy ones too. As we go into this next week, fill our hearts with peace, protect our time with loved ones, and remind us that we are never alone. Amen.

Thank you for taking a moment to pause and reflect with me for this week’s Moment of Devotion. I’m so grateful you stopped by. 🌿
