Hi friends — and welcome back to Moments of Devotion.
It’s been a few weeks since my last post — October 25th, to be exact — and I’ll be honest, I haven’t stopped moving since.
Between work, school, and home, life has been nonstop. My owners were in from India, which meant extra meetings and longer days. Then last week, I had the incredible opportunity to chaperone an 8th-grade trip to Washington, D.C. — an amazing experience, but not exactly restful! Add in family, church, and the usual chaos, and my “pause” button got buried.
And I’ll admit — I feel a little ashamed.
Not because I’ve been busy, but because I’ve let the busyness crowd out the very thing I need most: time to be still with God.
But as I sit here this morning, I’m reminded that God isn’t keeping score — He’s keeping the door open. He’s not disappointed that it’s taken me a while to stop. He’s just glad I showed up.
📖 Scripture Reading: Lamentations 3:22–23 (NIV)
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”
Today is Veterans Day, and as I pause to breathe and reflect, I can’t help but think about the incredible men and women who have served — and those who still serve — with such courage and sacrifice.
Their willingness to give of themselves, to stand in the gap for others, and to carry the weight of duty with quiet strength reminds me of what true service looks like. And it also reminds me that freedom, like faith, is something we pause to appreciate, not take for granted.
So today, I’m not just thanking God for His grace that allows me to start again — I’m also thanking Him for those who have made that freedom possible.
Maybe that’s what grace really looks like: undeserved goodness freely given by a loving God, reflected in the lives of those who serve others with honor.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You for meeting me here — in the middle of my busyness and distraction — with mercy that never runs out.
Thank You for the men and women who have served our country with courage and devotion. Bless them today with peace, comfort, and the deep knowing that their service matters.
Help me to pause often, not out of guilt, but out of gratitude — for Your grace, for Your faithfulness, and for the freedom we have to worship You openly.
In Jesus’ name — Amen.
