Hi friends — welcome back to Moments of Devotion.

I’ll be honest — I didn’t post on Friday. I didn’t stop. I didn’t pause.

The day was packed from start to finish with work deadlines, school assignments, and church obligations. By the time I looked up, Friday was gone and it was time for bed.

Saturday came with its own whirlwind — a meeting first thing in the morning while my family headed to a baseball playoff game. (Jayden and his team got 1st place in their division…WooHoo!) Then, we packed up and drove out of town for the weekend with our two grandchildren and two of their friends. (Yes, that’s four kids at a water park…yes, it was a lot! 3 thirteen year-old boys and our 7 year old granddaughter.)

It was loud, busy, (sometimes smelly!) and full of laughter… but also exhausting. And somewhere between the splashing, the snacks, and the nonstop “watch this, Nana!”, I realized something: I hadn’t done the very thing I’ve been encouraging all of us to do — pause.

Was that a failure? Or just life?

Honestly, I think it’s a little of both.

📖 Scripture Reading: Mark 6:31 (NIV)

“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them,
‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’”

I love that even Jesus had to remind His disciples to slow down. Life was busy for them, too — people were coming and going, needs were endless, and there was always something that felt urgent.

But Jesus didn’t scold them for being tired. He didn’t say, “You should’ve planned better.”
He simply invited them: “Come with me.”

And maybe that’s what He’s saying to us when our lists run long and our coffee grows cold — “Come with me.”

We’re not failures when we forget to pause. We’re human. We live in a world that moves fast and demands more. But even when we miss the mark, Jesus still meets us where we are — in the carpool line, at the water park, in the late Sunday afternoon when we finally stop and breathe.

Maybe the point isn’t that we always get it right. Maybe it’s that we keep coming back to Him — again and again — even when we fall behind.

🙏 Prayer

Lord, thank You for meeting us in our busy weeks and messy moments. Thank You for reminding us that You’re not asking for perfection — just presence.

When we rush past You, draw us back gently. Teach us to pause, to breathe, and to rest in You — even if it’s just for a moment in the middle of the noise.

Thank You for Your patience, Your grace, and Your steady love that never changes, even when our schedules do.

In Jesus’ name — Amen.

Thank you for joining me for Moments of Devotion. If your week looked anything like mine — overflowing with good things and still somehow overwhelming — remember this: You’re not alone, and it’s never too late to pause. I pray you find time to pause throughout this week and I hope to see you again on Friday afternoon.

Jesus is still whispering, “Come with me.” 💛
